Report: Major development in Franck Kessie’s future amidst Spurs links

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, rumoured Tottenham target Franck Kessie is set to sign a new contract with AC Milan.

Kessie’s current contract at Milan runs out at the end of the season and the midfielder is thus free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs ahead of a potential free transfer in the summer.

It was previously reported that the Rossoneri were not ready to meet the contract demands of the 25-year-old, with Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain said to be leading the race for the midfielder.

Spurs were even alleged to have floated the idea of a swap deal between Kessie and Tanguy Ndombele but Stefano Pioli’s side turned down the proposal.

In what comes as potentially a major blow in Tottenham’s pursuit of the Ivory Coast international, Gazzetta have now suggested that Kessie could put pen to paper on a new contract.

The report claims the midfielder is yet to receive an offer this month from any other club, which has prompted the Serie A giants to intensify their offer to renew his contract.

The report asserts that Kessie is now ‘likely’ to put pen to paper on a new deal at the San Siro.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kessie signing a new contract with Milan does not necessarily mean that he will not leave in the summer. However, one would expect the Serie A club to put an enormous price tag on his head.

We have to wait and see if a new deal materialises as Kessie might want to leave as a free agent in the summer, as not only would that allow him the freedom to choose his next destination but it would also help him earn a big salary.
