Report makes claim big claim about Tottenham’s long-term plan for Richarlison

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham do not see Richarlison as the natural heir to Harry Kane and plan on signing a big-name number nine before the transfer window closes.

Richarlison endured a difficult first season at Spurs following his switch from Everton, with the striker struggling for regular starts, being played out of position by Antonio Conte and picking up a couple of injuries over the course of the campaign.

Despite his struggles last season, several sources (including Alasdair Gold – Football.London) have claimed that the Brazilian will be given the responsibility to lead the line this year, with the North London club expected to sign a young, up-and-coming striker such as Gift Orban to supplement him.

Spurs are not totally convinced by Ricahrlison

However, Football Insider have now claimed that Richarlison is not seen by Ange Postecoglou’s men as ‘the long-term solution’ to lead the line.

The outlet states that they have been informed by a ‘well-placed source’ at Tottenham the club will not be reliant on the 26-year-old this season and will instead sign a ‘marquee’ number nine before the transfer window shuts.

Postecoglou himself has reiterated that he sees Richarlison as the ideal number nine for his system.

I have no doubt that the Australian will give the former Everton man first crack at leading the line, which is seemingly why Spurs are going after a highly-rated prospect in Gift Orban rather than a big-name striker like Dusan Vlahovic.
