Report: Man City aim to blow Spurs away by stealing top target

Tottenham Hotspur may have gone over 16 months without a signing, but reports suggest they are now close to securing the signature of Tanguy Ndombele (Sky Sports).

Spurs are said to be prepared to offer a club-record £50m, as well as offering the player a £200,000 a week contract to put him on par with Harry Kane (Football Insider).

Tottenham have had a hole in their squad ever since Mousa Dembele left in January, but Ndombele could prove to be the perfect midfield replacement.

The Lyon powerhouse impressed this season, particularly in the Champions League against the likes of Manchester City.

However, it appears that Ndombele caught the eye of Pepe Guardiola in those matches too, as Football Insider have now reported that City are ready to blow Spurs away this summer.

A City source has apparently revealed to the outlet that the club want the midfielder, and implied Pep is willing to go close to the £70m Lyon valuation.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Whether this report is true or not, I have been saying for a while now that Tottenham need to secure this deal as soon as possible or risk other clubs getting involved. As soon as it comes down to a bidding war with the likes of Man City, Spurs simply won’t win. Get this deal done in the next week, Levy.
