Report: Man City and Man Utd could rival Spurs for high-profile transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur still hold an interest in Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to the to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The north Londoners were heavily linked with a move for the Italian central defender during the summer transfer window, only for him to remain at the San Siro (Football.London).

The report claims that Spurs could face competition from Manchester United and Manchester City who are both also keen on Bastoni.

Bastoni was identified as a top target to bolster the left side of their central defence, but instead ended up signing Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona, with no obligation to make the deal permanent.

The 23-year-old was hauled off after just 30 minutes of Inter’s surprise 3-1 defeat to Udinese having picked up a yellow card and reacted furiously to the decision (FC Inter News).

Bastoni is yet to sign a new deal at Inter, with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2024 (transfermarkt). Tottenham are likely to face stiff competition to land the defender and will have to show they are prepared to match the big spenders if they are serious about bringing him to the club.
