Report: Man City could enter race for centre-back Spurs allegedly want

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester City could enter the race for Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Bastoni was reportedly Tottenham’s top target for the left centre-back role this summer (Football.London) but the North London club ended up signing Clement Lenglet on loan instead after the Italy international’s agent declared his client wanted to remain at the San Siro (Football Italia).

However, the Inter star has had a difficult start to the season and he was seen venting his frustration on the bench after being taken off just 31 minutes into the Nerazzurri’s clash against Udinese on Sunday.

CMW.it claimed earlier this week that Spurs would be watching Bastoni’s situation closely and should the defender fall out with Simone Inzaghi, Antonio Conte’s men could look to swoop for the player either in January or next summer.

However, if Gazzetta’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs could face competition from Man City for the Inter Milan star.

The report reveals that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Bastoni and could attempt to bring the Tottenham target to the Etihad in 2023.

If Bastoni does become available, Spurs will likely face plenty of competition for his signature. Hopefully, the centre-back’s relationship with Conte gives us an advantage over other suitors, with the 53-year-old being the one who promoted the defender to the first team at the San Siro.
