Report: Man City could make £50m plus offer for centre-back linked with Spurs

Calciomercato.it have reported that Manchester City could launch a big offer for Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Signing a left-sided centre-back to compete with Ben Davies is reportedly a priority for Antonio Conte this summer, with Bastoni alleged to be one of the names at the top of the Italian’s wishlist (The Athletic).

The 22-year-old, who Conte worked with at Inter, has really come of age over the last couple of years and he admitted last month that he owes a lot of his development to the Spurs boss (Football Italia).

Some publications have claimed that Inter could be open to cashing in on the 23-year-old this summer to fund moves for their transfer targets (TuttoSport).

This has now been backed up by Calciomerco.it, who suggest that the Nerazzurri could seriously consider a big offer for Bastoni this summer.

The report makes no mention of Spurs but reveals that the Italy international is of interest to Manchester City.

It is alleged that Pep Guardiola’s men could be set to make an offer of around €60m (£50.8m) for Bastoni, with Bayern Munich also said to have shown interest in the Inter star.

Spurs Web Opinion

Among all the left-sided centre-backs that Spurs have been linked with over recent months, I suspect that Bastoni would be Conte’s preferred choice.

However, the 23-year-old was always going to attract interest from plenty of heavy hitters, which is why the North Londoners might have to settle for Pau Torres or Josko Gvardiol.
