Report: Man City face ‘anxious wait’ over star’s fitness ahead of trip to Spurs

Football.London claim that Manchester City are sweating over the fitness of Raheem Sterling ahead of their clash against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, with the forward facing a race against time to be fit for the encounter.

City’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday will arguably be Spurs’ biggest test of the season so far and will begin what will be an extremely challenging run of fixtures for Jose Mourinho’s side over the next month.

Reports over the weekend revealed that Pep Guardiola’s side are set to be boosted by the returns of Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho and Benjamin Mendy for the clash.

Football.London claim that Guardiola might be without one of his key attacking players in Sterling after the forward missed out on England’s recent fixtures against the Republic of Ireland and Belgium with a calf problem.

The report reveals that the 25-year-old has subsequently left the England camp to return to his club for further assessment, as City face a nervous wait to determine if he could make the clash on Saturday.

If Sterling is passed fit, he will be up against Serge Aurier rather than Matt Doherty (after the Republic of Ireland tested positive for COVID-19) which is not a one vs one battle that fills me with too much optimism. I’m hoping the clash on Saturday comes too soon for the Man City attacker as the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Bernado Silva have not exactly started the season in great form.
