Report: Man City hopeful star will be back fit in time to face Tottenham

According to ESPN sources, Manchester City are hopeful that young starlet Phil Foden will be fit and available for the start of the Premier League season.

This means that Foden could potentially be fit to face Tottenham on the opening day of the new campaign in North London.

The midfielder was left on crutches by a training ground injury that ruled him out of the Euro 2020 final and the City player had to helplessly watch England’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Italy from afar.

Foden started twice for England in the European Championships and also came on off the bench against Denmark in the semi-final. He played a starring role for City’s title-winning campaign: scoring 16 goals and grabbing 10 assists in all competitions.

Tottenham begin their campaign by hosting the current English league champions at home, which will represent Nuno Espirito Santo’s official first league game in charge of the Lilywhites and it promises to be a tough start.

Nuno’s first game in charge couldn’t be tougher but these sort of big games can set the tone for a season. Foden being fit makes the game even tougher but, in all honesty, irrelevant when you take a peep into City’s scary squad depth.
