Report: Man City in negotiations over a swap deal for rumoured Spurs target

According to reports from Spain, Manchester City are reportedly in negotiations with Barcelona over signing Nelson Semedo who is also rumoured to be a target for Spurs.

Semedo is one of a number right-backs Tottenham have been linked with in the past couple of months (Sky Sports), with the Lilywhites reported to be long-term admirers of the Barcelona player (Don Balon).

Spanish journalist, Guillem Balague has revealed that Tottenham have asked the Catalan giants about Semedo’s availability ahead of the summer transfer window but that the North Londoners are yet to make an offer (Balague’s YouTube channel).

Sport claim that Manchester City are in advanced negotiations for the Portuguese international and are prepared to offer his compatriot, Joao Cancelo to Barcelona to bring Semedo to the Etihad Stadium.

The report claims that Pep Guardiola believes Semedo has the characteristics to adapt to the Premier League and the two clubs could come to an agreement in a matter of weeks.

Spurs Web Opinion

I wouldn’t be too disappointed if Semedo ends up going to City as I believe he too has defensive frailties much like Aurier. However, I would hope that we would try and make an offer for Cancelo if it is true that the City defender is available. I don’t think he has had a fair crack of the whip at City and he could thrive under the right system.
