Report: Man City join Tottenham and Man United in the race for centre-back

The Daily Mail have revealed that Machester City have now entered the race to sign Tottenham target Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer.

Branthwaite has had an outstanding campaign at Goodison Park and the centre-back’s stock is continuing to grow. The 21-year-old could even find himself in the England squad for the Euros this summer.

It has been widely reported by various outlets over the last couple of months that Tottenham are big admirers of the 21-year-old and are ready to battle Manchester United for the player’s services next summer (Daily Mail).

Over recent weeks, some journalists have suggested that Real Madrid could also enter the race for the defender, with Carlo Ancelotti alleged to be a fan of the Everton man (GiveMeSport).

Man City new eyeing a move for Branthwaite

The Mail have now provided an update on Branthwaite’s future, revealing that Man City have joined Spurs, Real Madrid and Man Utd in the race for the Everton star.

The report claims that Pep Guardiola wants more competition for places at centre-back and that the Toffees star is a lucrative option, given the technical qualities he possesses and his homegrown status.

The publication adds that as things stand, Sean Dyche’s men want a fee in excess of £60m in order to sell their academy graduate.

Spurs Web Opinion

Everton might want to wait after the Euros to sell Branthwaite as they would be aware that his value could shoot up considerably if he shines in Germany. I do not see Tottenham getting involved in a bidding war for the 21-year-old, given the centre-backs Postecoglou now has at his disposal.
