Report: Man City now prepared to offer Spurs £150m for Harry Kane

The Independent have revealed that Manchester City are preparing an offer of around £150m for Harry Kane in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Reports over the last few days have indicated the striker is increasingly likely to stay put in North London.

City and Spurs are thought to be quite far apart in their valuation of the striker, with some sources even claiming that Daniel Levy was refusing to answer City’s calls.

However, The Independent have now claimed that the Premier League champions are set for a renewed assault for the England captain.

It is said that City believe an offer of £150m could be enough to get Levy to the negotiating table to begin talks.

The Spurs chairman is said to be privately adamant the striker is not for sale and is alleged to be furious with the nature of some of the stories in the press.

The report also states that while £150m might not be enough to clinch the deal, it could open negotiations and allow the inclusion of several add-ons.

I would not be surprised if the talks progress quickly over the next couple of days. The fact that City have not moved for any other striker tells me that they are prepared to meet Levy’s asking price for Kane even if it is more than £160m.

However, at this stage of the transfer window, it remains to be seen whether Spurs can get in suitable replacements for the 28-year-old. So Daniel Levy might well bump up the asking price considerably or even refuse to negotiate.
