Report: Man City prepared to give Spurs ‘first refusal’ on a list of players

Manchester City are prepared to give Tottenham Hotspur the first refusal of a number of their players as part of their intent to try and sign Harry Kane, according to The Telegraph.

The report claims that Raheem Sterling is part of the list, however, the England international has no desire in being used as part of a player exchange while Spurs are not in a position to meet his wage demands.

Sterling is said to earn £300,000-a-week with the Premier League champions and has two years remaining on his current contract (Daily Mail).

Tottenham’s highest earner is ironically, Kane who along with Tanguy Ndomble takes home £200,000-a-week (talkSPORT).

Manchester City are reported to be keen on signing the England captain this summer after parting company with Sergio Aguero at the end of last season.

It makes absolutely no sense that Tottenham would be offered Sterling when they cannot afford his wages and the player has no desire to make the move.

If Spurs are to break back into the top four next season, they need Kane within their ranks rather than strengthening a Premier League rival.
