Report: Man City set to make move for left-back allegedly wanted by Conte at Spurs

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City are set to make a move for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar this summer.

Cucurella has enjoyed an impressive first season in the Premier League since joining Brighton from Getafe last summer, taking home the Seagulls Men’s Players’ Player of the Season and the Supporters’ Player of the Season awards (The Argus).

It was reported last month that Antonio Conte had named Cucurella as one of his primary targets ahead of the summer (Fichajes.net).

TuttoJuve reported two weeks ago that Spurs could face competition from Juventus for the left-back when the transfer window opens.

The Mail have now claimed that Cucurella is also on City’s radar, with Pep Guardiola being keen on signing a left-back this summer.

It is explained that despite Joao Cancelo’s impressive displays at left-back this season, Guardiola wants to sign a more orthodox option to provide balance.

City are said to have identified the Brighton star as the ideal signing due to his age and versatility.

The report adds that Graham Potter’s side would demand a fee of around £30m for the Spaniard, which the Premier League champions are said to be ready to offer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Cucurella would be a steal for £30m and I expect Spurs to be in the for the 23-year-old at that price, given that we do need a left wing-back to compete with Sessegnon.

We might stand a chance of beating City to the Spaniard if the player can be convinced that he has a better chance of being a regular starter for us than he does at the Etihad.
