Report: Man City squad held post-match inquest into how Kane dominated them

Manchester City held a dressing-room inquest after their defeat to Tottenham to try and understand how Harry Kane managed to register a flawless display against them, according to The Telegraph.

Kane inspired Spurs to a stunning 3-2 win over the Premier League leaders on Saturday, nodding the winner home deep into second-half injury time after Riyad Mahrez thought he rescued a point for the hosts.

Despite Spurs seeing just 29 per cent of possession (BBC), the England captain was inch-perfect with his time on the ball, dropping deep to put his range of passing to good use.

Kane’s showing left a lasting impact, with The Telegraph claiming ‘frank discussions’ were held in the City dressing-room to get to the bottom of how he was able to produce such a dominant display.

The report explains Pep Guardiola’s side did not know whether to track the 28-year-old when he slotted into the No.10 role, which in turn allowed him to pick up the ball and control the game.

It also states that Kane managed to assert his dominance on City’s midfield by overpowering the sitting Rodri, who was simply confined to chasing shadows throughout the encounter.

Spurs Web Opinion

Kane’s performance against City may have been his best in a Tottenham shirt as he was so dominant throughout. Every time he received the ball he’d use it so well and he took all but one chance brilliantly. He has always had that in his locker and for whatever reason, we haven’t seen it as much this season, so hopefully there’s more of the same to come.
