Report: Man City star linked with Spurs told his days at the Etihad are numbered

John Stones who is reportedly one of the players on Tottenham’s radar this summer has been told by Manchester City that his days at the club are numbered, according to a report by the Daily Star.

TEAMtalk reported earlier this month that Tottenham and Arsenal were competing for Stones’ signature, while Everton were also interested in taking the centre half back to Goodison Park.

The 25-year-old has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s side this campaign despite their injury problems at the heart of their defence (transfermarkt).

The Daily Star claim that the reigning Premier League champions have set their sights on Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci this summer and are prepared to let the England international leave if they are able to land the 32-year-old.

City are said to want to recoup the £50 million they paid Everton for his services in 2016.

Jan Vertonghen’s contract with Spurs runs out at the end of the season and the Lilywhites could be in the market for a replacement (Football Insider).

Spurs Web Opinion

While I expect us to be in the market for a centre half, I just can’t see Stones being one of the players on our radar. He certainly doesn’t strike me as a Mourinho type signing given his mental fragilities. He is not the kind of player we need to help solve our defensive issues at the back.
