Report: Man City still interested in Kane but striker would prefer to move to surprise club

Spanish publication El Nacional have claimed that Manchester City continue to hold an interest in Harry Kane but the Tottenham striker would prefer a move to Real Madrid instead.

Kane has not found his goalscoring boots for Spurs this season since his failed transfer to City in the summer.

The striker admitted in an interview to Gary Neville on The Overlap earlier this year that he does not see himself leaving the Premier League at this stage of his career.

However, according to El Nacional, the Tottenham man has now had a change of heart.

The report reveals that despite Kane’s struggles in front of goal this season, Pep Guardiola continues to believe the 28-year-old is the best striker on the market and a perfect fit for his system.

It is alleged that the former Barcelona boss has asked the City hierarchy to make another attempt to sign Kane in January.

Spurs are said to be more open to selling the England captain now than they were six months ago and it is stated that Antonio Conte himself has asked the club to cash in on the striker if a lucrative offer arrives next month.

The report asserts Tottenham would prefer to sell their talisman to a foreign club and that Kane himself is tempted by the prospect of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, it is explained that the operation seems unlikely at the moment, with Carlo Ancelotti having full trust in Karim Benzema to lead the line at Madrid.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure how much truth there is to this report as I believe Kane is motivated by wanting to break Shearer’s record and will likely stay in the Premier League for his entire career.

I also do not think Conte would be happy for Spurs to cash in on Kane as the Italian has spoken in glowing terms about the 28-year-old even before he took over at the North London club.
