Report: Man City were not only PL club to have ‘concrete interest’ in Kane this summer

According to Thursday’s edition of Norwegian outlet Dagbladet (as relayed by Sport Witness), Manchester United also showed concrete interest in signing Harry Kane this summer along with their cross-city rivals.

Tottenham held firm amidst Manchester City’s alleged advances to snap up Kane during the summer transfer window.

However, the striker has looked a shadow of his former self since the failed transfer, which has led some pundits to claim that Daniel Levy made a mistake by not cashing in on the England captain.

According to reports, Pep Guardiola’s men are unlikely to reignite their interest in the 28-year-old in the future.

Dagbladet have now claimed that City were also joined by Man Utd in the pursuit of Kane during the summer.

The report states that the striker was ‘in no way dismissive’ of the prospect of leaving the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Old Trafford.

However, despite United showing concrete interest, it is explained that a deal did not progress as the striker’s price tag was deemed ‘too expensive’ by the Red Devils hierarchy.

If Kane refuses to sign a new contract at Spurs before the end of the season, Levy and co will likely want to cash in on him next summer as they would not want the striker to run his contract down.

If City do not reignite their interest in the 28-year-old, a move to Old Trafford might be the only realistic option left for the England captain, particularly if he wants to remain in the Premier League.
