Report: Man City were ‘resigned’ to losing player to Spurs but now hope to keep him

Manchester Evening News have revealed that Kwaku Oduroh has returned to Manchester City after a brief trial with Tottenham Hotspur.

Oduroh, a right-back who is also capable of playing as a holding midfielder, has progressed through the age groups at City all the way from the Under-9 level.

The youngster captained City’s Under-18 side to the U18 Premier League title last season and he has featured 14 times for their Under-23s this campaign (Transfermarkt).

Oduroh spent a brief spell at Tottenham earlier this month, even starting for Spurs’ Under-23s in their 2-2 draw against Leeds, with GhanaSoccerNet subsequently claiming that the defender was ‘closing in’ on a move to North London.

MEN have now revealed that City were ‘resigned’ to losing the teenager when he opted to go on trial to Spurs.

However, the report adds that Oduroh has now returned to Manchester and played for City’s Under-23s in their 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Sunday night.

It is asserted that the full-back is yet to make a decision on his future but City are pleased that he has returned to the Etihad.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Oduroh captained City’s Under-18s last season suggests that he is a top talent. So, I doubt it would be a case of Spurs not being impressed with the right-back during his trial period. We will have to wait and see how this move develops over the coming weeks and months.
