Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas has revealed that Manchester United are now considering a shock move to sign Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon.
Reguilon has not made Tottenham’s matchday squad for any of the opening three matches of the season and he is one of many first-team players who are expected to depart Spurs before the transfer window slams shut in less than a week (Evening Standard).
Until a few days ago, it seemed like the 26-year-old was set for a return to La Liga, with several sources, including Ben Jacobs (the Last Word on Spurs podcast), stating that he was nearing a loan move to Real Sociedad.
However, it emerged on Saturday that the move had collapsed after the Spanish side secured Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney on loan instead (Fabrizio Romano).
Move to Man Utd now on the cards for Reguilon
Thomas has now taken to social media to claim that Reguilon has emerged as a shock target for Man Utd.
Luke Shaw is expected to be out of action for around six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury (90 min), and it turns out that the Red Devils are considering making a move for the Tottenham man before the window closes.
Thomas added that Regulion is also on the radar of Fulham but revealed that Leicester City’s Timothy Castagne remains the Cottagers’ top priority at the moment.
#ManUtd have looked at Sergio Reguilon as an option for LB among others. #Fulhamfc also but priority remains Castagne atm. He can leave #Tottenham before the deadline. https://t.co/OzHTtF6aQx #thfc #mufc #ffc pic.twitter.com/6HiDYaJeVZ

Spurs Web Opinion
The injury to Shaw means that United need temporary cover at left-back, which is why they are seemingly exploring loan options.
However, I do not think Tottenham would want to aid a direct competitor, which is why the Lilywhites will be much more receptive to an approach from Fulham or from La Liga sides for Reguilon.
