Report: Man United are ‘very much’ in the race to sign 25-year-old Spurs target

Football Insider have claimed that Manchester United will not let Tottenham Hotspur win the race for Eberechi Eze without a fight this summer.

Several outlets have talked up Tottenham’s chances of landing Eze over the last few weeks but The Sun reported on Saturday that Spurs may have a fight on their hands since the attacking midfielder is also on the radar of Manchester United.

However, the report explained that the Red Devils will have to move on some of their players before they can fund a move for the Palace star and have only just made a decision on the future of Erik Ten Hag.

It was alleged that Tottenham are ‘in the box seat’ to land the 25-year-old, with the Lilywhites having a good relationship with CAA Base, who represent the player.

The playmaker impressed last season, with his form improving markedly following the arrival of Oliver Glasner during the final few months of the campaign.

Should Spurs make a move for Eberechi Eze?

Football Insider have now also backed United to offer competition to Spurs for Eze, stating that the Manchester club are now ‘poised’ to make a move for the midfielder.

The outlet claims that while Tottenham are long-term admirers of the England international and hold a strong interest in him, they have heard from a ‘well-placed source’ that United are still ‘very much in the race’ to land the Eagles star.

The publication adds that Eze ‘ticks a lot of boxes’ for United and is high on the list of potential targets for the new INEOS recruitment staff at Old Trafford.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Man Utd are Tottenham’s main competitors for Eze’s signature rather than the likes of Man City or Liverpool, I fancy our chances of winning the race for the midfielder.

Not only would Spurs offer the 25-year-old a chance to remain in London but Postecoglou would be able to convince the player that he would be a great fit for his system.

There is certainly more stability at Tottenham for Eze, compared to at United who have only just decided to keep ten Hag as manager.
