Report: Man United ‘confident’ of landing Pochettino – He will be in Manchester today

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has seemingly moved to a step closer to a Premier League return, with Manchester Evening News now reporting that Manchester United are ‘confident’ of getting the Argentine.

Pochettino, who spent five and a half years at Spurs before parting ways with the club two years ago, is thought to be United’s number one target to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Reports on Monday suggested that the 49-year-old would be open to swapping Paris Saint-Germain for United midseason.

It was alleged that the former Spurs boss was not happy in Paris and his family being back in the UK was a factor in him wanting to return to the Premier League.

If MEN’s latest update is to be believed, the Red Devils are now confident that they will get their man. What’s more, Pochettino will be in Manchester later today as he arrives with PSG to take on Man City in the Champions League.

It is alleged that PSG are demanding £10m in compensation for Pochettino, who wants to move to Old Trafford straightaway.

In addition, it is revealed that Zinedine Zidane’s availability provides PSG with an obvious replacement for the former Tottenham manager.

Spurs Web Opinion

As delighted as I am to have Conte at Spurs, I would be really disappointed to see Pochettino go to United. In the back of my mind, I was always hoping that the Argentine would return to Spurs sooner rather than later.

That looks almost impossible now as I have no doubts that he will succeed at Old Trafford. He is a perfect fit for United need and I can see him restoring them to their former glory.
