Report: Man United could look at two reported Spurs targets if Erik ten Hag joins

90 min have claimed that Manchester United could make moves for two rumoured Tottenham targets in the form of Ajax’s Jurrien Timber and Villareal’s Pau Torres after they appoint Erik Ten Hag as their new head coach.

Timber has come on leaps and bounds since breaking into the Ajax first-team in March 2020 and the 20-year-old’s impressive performances have seen him earn a cap for the Netherlands senior side.

Todofijaches previously reported that Tottenham were the favourites to land Timber, alleging that Fabio Paratici had opened talks with Ajax over a deal for the centre-back.

Another central defender who is thought to be on Spurs’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window is Torres, with Football Insider claiming that the North Londoners are keen on snapping up the Villareal star.

90min have now revealed that Ten Hag is expected to take over from Ralf Rangnick at United and the Dutchman has indicated that he wants to strengthen the Red Devils’ backline.

Timber and Torres are two options that United are thought to be considering ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report adds that Man Utd are also being ‘kept informed’ of Harry Kane’s situation and may consider a bid for the 28-year-old should he become available.

Spurs Web Opinion

Firstly, I am delighted that United are seemingly set to appoint Ten Hag over Pochettino as I do not doubt that the Argentine would have made them title challengers within a couple of seasons if he got the job.

Ten Hag is still unproven outside the bubble of Ajax and I do not think he has the gravitas or charisma to manage big egos at United.

Irrespective of who United appoint, it is likely that they are going to pursue a similar profile of players this summer to us and Arsenal. So, Champions League qualification could be crucial in adding to our pulling power.
