Report: Man United enter race for Tottenham-linked left centre-back

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Manchester United have now entered the race for Lille centre-back Sven Botman, who is also rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Signing a left-sided centre-back to compete with Ben Davies is reported a priority for Spurs this summer, with Botman thought to be one of the names on the club’s wishlist (The Athletic).

Over the last week, Alessandro Bastoni has emerged as Tottenham’s top target for the aforementioned position but it remains to be seen whether the North Londoners are able to prise the Italian away from Inter Milan with his £51m price tag (Football.London).

If Spurs do push ahead with a move for Botmam, they will have to contend with plenty of competition if TMW’s latest update is to be believed.

The report reveals that although AC Milan have agreed on personal terms with the Dutchman regarding a five-year deal, the Serie A club have not been able to agree on a transfer fee with Lille.

It is explained that Newcastle United remain interested in Botman while the Red Devils have also entered the race for the 22-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

The jury is out on whether Botman will be a good fit Conte’s back three as he has only played in a back four at Lille so far. If Spurs are not able to get Bastoni, I expect the club to turn their attention to Josko Gvardiol or Pau Torres rather than the Netherlands international.
