Report: Man United have abandoned their pursuit of Tottenham player

The Athletic have revealed that Manchester United have given up their pursuit of Harry Kane, with the striker now said to be happy at Tottenham.

The same publication reported back in March that United were set to prioritise a move for Kane this summer.

However, it has emerged recently that the England captain is delighted Antonio Conte is set to stay at Tottenham and is even ready to open talks with the North London club regarding a potential new deal this summer (The Evening Standard).

The Athletic have now claimed that while United were initially keen on signing Kane, the landscape has shifted following the North Londoners’ Champions League qualification.

The report states the 28-year-old is very content at Spurs and has a ‘strong bond’ with Conte.

It is said that United have now shifted their attentions to other forwards like Benfica’s Darwin Nunez and RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

Interestingly, Spurs are thought to be one of United’s competitors for Nunez’s signature (Rudy Galetti).

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Conte had departed Spurs for some reason, I still do not think Kane would have considered joining Man Utd as the Red Devils are in transition and it is unclear when they would be able to fight for major honours again. As soon as City snapped up Haaland, I was confident that Kane would stay put for at least another season.
