Report: Man United have enquired about out-of-favour Spurs player

Manchester Evening News have revealed that Manchester United have enquired to Tottenham Hotspur about the availability of Harry Winks.

Winks had arguably the most difficult season of his career last time out, struggling to get regular game time until Jose Mourinho was sacked towards the end of the campaign.

It did not come as a surprise when the 25-year-old found himself missing out on the England squad for the European Championship and given how well the likes of Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Jude Bellingham have done, he certainly has his work cut out to get back into the squad.

The midfielder has been linked with an exit from Spurs, with a move to Aston Villa being mooted as a possibility.

MEN have now claimed that Winks could even potentially be on his way to Old Trafford this summer. The report explains that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is keen to bolster his midfield options and has identified the Spurs star as one of his targets.

However, it is explained that the England international is viewed as a backup option by the Red Devils, who are prioritising moves for Eduardo Camavinga and Declan Rice.

Winks is said to have expressed a desire to leave Tottenham and is waiting to receive clarification on his future from Nuno Espirito Santo.

Given that we seem to be linked with several central midfielders like Franck Kessie, Manuel Locatelli and Yves Bissouma, and with Oliver Skipp returning from an impressive loan spell at Norwich, the writing does seem to be on the wall for Winks this summer.
