Report: Man United have Spurs player on three-man shortlist of targets

A new report from Fichajes claims Manchester United may target Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United announced this week that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave the club by mutual consent.

The move comes after a frustrating season for Ronaldo which has seen him benched by Erik Ten Hag most weeks and a contribution of only three goals in 16 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

With Ronaldo set to depart the club, the Red Devils are reportedly keen to fill that void with new attacking options. According to Fichajes, the man to fill that void is Spurs star, Harry Kane.

Kane has been in fine form for Spurs so far this season, with 13 goals in 22 games (Transfermarkt). His output has been integral in the North London side maintaining a top-four spot in the Premier League and progressing to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The report from Spanish outlet Fichajes claims Kane is one of three options Manchester United will be tracking as a potential replacement for Ronaldo. He is joined on that list by Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.

According to the report, Harry Kane would “fit into Erik Ten Hag’s game idea, taking into account his good footing and ability to move outside the area.” They cite the fact that Kane’s contract expires in 2024 as a factor, and claim “if he does not want to renew, the exit door opens.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The Harry Kane situation is such a tricky one to assess at this moment in time. If Spurs finish in the top four this season, you’d think he would sign a new deal and stick around, but if we fall out of the top four, he could be tempted to move on to a rival.

The fact he is chasing the Premier League goalscoring record could help us stave off any interest from abroad, but could also open the door for other teams in the league to capitalise if we let our standards slip.
