Report: Man United keen on Spurs central midfielder to replace current star

Tottenham Hotspur will surely be looking to invest in the summer transfer market after failing to bring in any new players over the past 16 months.

Spurs have also sold first-team midfielder Mousa Dembele in that time, as the Belgian left for China back in January this year.

However, he may not be the last central midfielder to leave Spurs in 2019, as Man United are now reportedly keen on signing Eric Dier to replace Nemanja Matic (The Times).

The Times report that Man United are also keen on Decland Rice, but believe Spurs will be more willing to sell up than West Ham at this time.

With injuries and Winks and Sissoko in fantastic form, Dier only played 18 matches for Spurs in the Premier League last season.

It is unclear whether Pochettino would be open to selling Dier, or if he is still a key player in his future plans.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be completely open to selling Dier if Man United come in with a bid of £40m or over. I believe that Dier was a fantastic prospect two years ago, but he has actually slipped backwards in that time. In bulking up, Dier has become slow, and his passing on the ball has also dropped off dramatically. I rated him as a high-energy blocker just in front of the back four, but the more I see him now, the less I think he has a future at Spurs.
