Tottenham Hotspur decided not to name left-back Danny Rose in their pre-season tour of Asia earlier this month, claiming that he had been given the opportunity to stay at home and seek a move away from the club.
This comes as Spurs are also reportedly interested in bringing Ryan Sessegnon into North London, potentially as a long-term replacement for Rose.
The Mirror claimed earlier this week that Spurs were hoping to get a £20m deal for Sessegnon wrapped up this week, but no reports have indicated such a deal.
There could now be another twist in the tail as Manchester United are reportedly attempting to hijack Spurs’ pursuit of the 19-year-old (The Transfer Window – Play Acast).
The Red Devils have apparently made contact with Sessegnon’s representatives with a view to securing his signature this summer.
However, Spurs may still have the upper hand as it was reported earlier in the summer that Ryan was keen on a Tottenham move in order to stay in London and to link up with Pochettino (Guardian).
