Report: Man United and Spurs monitor striker

Tottenham are being linked with a move for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi who has been impressing in Turkey.

Turkish publication Takvim Sport (as translated by Sport Witness) reported that Tottenham sent their scouts to watch Muriqi lead the line for Kosovo in the Euro qualifier against England on Tuesday.

While England ran out 5-3 winners, the striker still impressed with his hold up play and also got on the scoresheet from the penalty spot.

The Daily Mail claimed a few days ago that Spurs’ head scout Steve Hitchen was left impressed with the 25-year-old’s performance.

However, it appears that Spurs are not the only English club that the Kosovar is interesting with The Express also reporting that Manchester United also sent their scouts to watch Muriqi in action against England.

The report claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his front line in January while Tottenham did not actively replace Fernando Llorente who left the club at the end of his contract.

While Muriqi’s goalscoring record at both club level and international level are quite decent, his main strength looks to be his hold up play and his ability to play with his back to goal. The forward is also surprisingly mobile for a man of his size. However, it remains to be seen if the 25-year-old is good enough to make the step up to the Premier League.
