Report: Man United starlet turned down Tottenham move in the summer

Manchester United signed 17-year-old Joe Hugill from Sunderland during the summer transfer window and the starlet has certainly hit the ground running.

Throughout 20 matches for the club’s under 23 and under 18 sides, Hugill has netted an impressive 16 goals (Mirror). This included a recent four-goal haul against Liverpool U23s.

However, The Daily Mail have now revealed that Hugill had other admirers over the summer, including Tottenham, Arsenal, Wolves and Leeds United.

When joining the Red Devils, Hugill revealed that he made his choice based on the style that Man United play, especially when compared to the relative defensive set-up of his old club, Sunderland (Secret Scout).

Despite missing out on Hugill, Spurs signed a starlet of their own in Alfie Devine who has already made a first-team impact this season.

Devine came on against Marine FC in the FA Cup to become not only Tottenham’s youngest ever professional player, but also the club’s youngest goalscorer.
