Report: Man United step up interest in midfielder Mourinho and Spurs are keen on

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Manchester United are ready to step up their interest in rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The midfielder has enjoyed another fine season for Lazio and is reportedly interesting multiple Premier League clubs, including Spurs (Daily Mail).

It was previously reported that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Milinkovic-Savic and has identified the Serbian international as the man to bolster his midfield options.

The Tottenham boss is said to be dreaming of bringing the 25-year-old to North London this summer, along with Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

However, Foot Mercato now report that Man Utd are ready to step up their interest in the Lazio star, as they seek to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool next season.

It is claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to have a midfield trio of Milinkovic-Savic, Paul Pogba, and Bruno Fernandes next season.

The report reveals that United made contact with Lazio regarding the midfielder last week, while Spurs, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested.

Spurs Web Opinion

As much as I would like Tanguy Ndombele to come good at Spurs, I have come to the realisation that it is not going to happen as Mourinho just does not trust him to do his work off the ball. Seeing as the Frenchman is not going to get too many minutes anyway, I would certainly jump at the chance to see us sell him if we are going to bring Milinkovic-Savic and Hojbjerg in for that money.
