Report: Man United weighing up bid for midfielder who has played 229 games for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur were forced to sell Christian Eriksen as the Great Dane was in the final six months of his contract. Jan Vertonghen is still in that same position, meaning there is no guarantee that Spurs will get any money for him.

Daniel Levy is not usually one to waste money or an opportunity to make some cash, so it would be unlikely that too many Spurs players would be allowed to leave on frees.

Eric Dier currently has just 18 months left on his deal in North London, which runs out in the summer of 2021.

It was reported last week that Spurs would look to sell the former England captain if he fails to sign a new contract with the club (Daily Mail).

Just days later, it has emerged that Manchester United are weighing up a bid for the midfield man who has played 229 games for the Lilywhites.

The Daily Star claim that United have been long-term admirers and believe that Dier could be tempted away from North London this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Spurs should take what they can get for Dier, sell him, and reinvest in a new midfielder. Unfortunately, I do not think he is anywhere near good enough anymore.
