Report: Man Utd could make serious offer for Spurs-linked midfielder

The Manchester Evening News have claimed that Manchester United could be set to make an offer for rumoured Tottenham target David Brooks after being left frustrated in their attempt to sign Jadon Sancho.

It was previously reported that Tottenham were trying to snap up Brooks along with his teammate Callum Wilson following Bournemouth’s relegation from the Premier League (Mirror).

Reports indicated that Spurs faced stiff competition for the Welsh international from the likes of Crystal Palace and Leicester City (Sky Sports).

The Cherries reportedly wish to hold on to the winger despite failing to beat the drop and are said to be in no mood to let him leave on a cut-price deal (Daily Star).

The MEN claim that Spurs could also be facing a challenge from United for Brooks’ signature.

It is revealed that while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have not made any formal contact with Bournemouth or Brooks representatives, the winger has been a long-term target for the club.

The report suggests that former Premier League champions could switch their attention to Brooks who is expected to cost around £40million.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not surprised that many Premier League teams are reportedly after Brooks this summer. I believe the 23-year-old is the most talented player in all three squads that were relegated last season.

It does not sound like he is going to come cheap despite Bournemouth’s relegation and I cannot see us paying over the odds to sign a player that we arguably do not need when we have other gaping holes in the squad.
