Report: Man Utd could now challenge Spurs for Premier League star this summer

Foot Mercato have revealed that Tottenham could be set to battle Manchester United for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.

Marc Guehi has emerged as the leader of the Crystal Palace backline over the last couple of years and the young defender is now thought to be attracting interest from several top Premier League clubs.

Football Transfers were the first to report back in March that Tottenham are keen on the 22-year-old, with the Lilywhites said to believe the Palace star is a perfect fit for the profile of defender they are looking for.

The report added that the North London club were at the front of the queue for the England international’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail also reported at the start of this month that Spurs had their eye on the Palace star and suggested that they could face competition for the player from their fierce rivals, Arsenal.

Foot Mercato have now also reported on Tottenham’s interest in Guehi but the French publication suggests that the club’s main competition for the former Chelsea man might come from Man Utd.

The outlet states that the Red Devils are keen on adding reinforcements in central defence and have identified the Palace star as the right fit.

It is explained that the Eagles might be open to cashing in on Geuhi this summer but the publication does not reveal what kind of fee they are expected to demand for the youngster.

Guehi would tick plenty of boxes for Spurs, having all the attributes to develop into a world-class defender and being homegrown.

However, it would be quite difficult to beat the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal to the 22-year-old’s signature, given that we cannot offer Champions League football.
