Report: Man Utd have now entered the race for striker wanted by Spurs

Football Insider have now revealed that Manchester United could be set to challenge the likes of Tottenham in the race for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The report states that Tottenham were one of three clubs to have previously expressed an interest in Osimhen along with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

Antonio Conte’s men were allegedly planning on reigniting their interest in the Nigerian international when the transfer window reopened in the summer.

However, it is explained that the Lilywhites, Chelsea and PSG now face competition from Man United for the 24-year-old, who has found the back of the net 19 times in 20 Serie A matches this season (Transfermarkt).

The report adds that with Osimhen’s contract running out in 2025, Napoli value the centre-forward at around £70m.

This update by Football Insider impacts Spurs in more ways than one, with The Telegraph reporting at the start of February that the Red Devils are expected to push ahead with a move for one of Osimhen or Harry Kane in the summer.

The only reason Spurs would be exploring a move for Osimhen is to have a contingency plan in place in case Kane does not sign a new contract and asks to leave.

However, if Man Utd were to sign the Nigerian, that would be good news for Tottenham as I do not see which other Premier League club the England captain could join in the summer.
