Report: Man Utd keeping tabs on former Tottenham full-back

According to a report in The Telegraph, former Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier coule be set for a return to the Premier League with Manchester United potentially ready to make a move for him.

After being Kyle Walker’s understudy during his first couple of years at Spurs, Trippier finally seemed to have established himself as the first-choice right-back in North London after Walker departed for Manchester City.

However, the former Burnley man had a poor 2018-19 season, with his defensive lapses costing Tottenham on a number occasions which led to the player himself admitting his form was poor (BBC).

The Lilywhites sold Trippier to Atletico Madrid for £20m in the summer of last year and the right-back has managed to rebuild his career in the Spanish capital, featuring regularly for Diego Simeone’s side (transfermarkt).

He has also continued to get game time for the Three Lions and is in contention to be in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros this summer.

The Telegraph claim that the former Spurs star has long-term admirers at Old Trafford and is one of the names United are considering as they look to bolster the squad.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking for a more attacking option to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back slot.

With Trippier only having 18 months left on his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, he is said to be one of the options they are considering.
