Report: Man Utd make former Spurs target their main priority for the summer

Manchester United are said to have put Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish at the top of their summer shipping list.

Grealish was close to completing a move to Spurs back in the summer of 2018 with The Sun reporting that the North Londonders could have signed him for a transfer fee of just £6million 18 months ago.

Their failure to get the deal over the line has proved costly as the midfielder has gone from strength to strength following Villa’s return to the Premier League and was particularly impressive during the recent 3-2 defeat at home to Tottenham.

The 24-year-old has been the club’s stand out player in the Premier League this season and The Athletic report that Manchester United have now made Grealish their primary target for the summer.

It is suggested that the Red Devils are willing to spend around £70m on the Villa academy graduate who is contracted to the Midlanders until 2023.

The Mirror have previously reported that Spurs and Manchester City are also keen on landing the midfielder in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that we have missed our chance of landing Grealish as he will likely be out of our price range by the summer if he maintains the same level of performances. It really is a shame that we didn’t complete the transfer in 2018 as he would have been a fantastic fit for us.

Whether Levy would be prepared to spend £70million on a player who he could have landed for a fraction of the price remains to be seen.
