Report: Man Utd planning late move for £34m-rated former Spur

Manchester United are keen on signing former Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid and could make a late move to beat the transfer deadline, according to AS.

The reigning La Liga champions have reportedly stated that they are only interested in listening to offers worth at least €40 million (£34.3m) for the England international.

Spanish outlet AS claim United are hoping to make a late swoop for Trippier, and hope to make a bid to Atletico before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

United are said to be facing stiff competition from Arsenal, who have also held an interest in Trippier, despite his previous association with their North London rivals.

The Red Devils have been in the market for a right-back for most of the summer, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot currently the two options which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has at his disposal.

Dalot’s future in Manchester has remained uncertain amid United’s links with Trippier and has been touted with a loan move to Borussia Dortmund (Sky Sports).

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, has recently squashed rumours of a move to Germany for Dalot materialising, stating that Solskjaer is ‘very happy’ with the Portuguese international.

Spurs Web Opinion

Trippier’s career at Spurs essentially fizzled out in his last season at the club, with many not too disappointed at his departure. But it seems as if he has turned it around in Spain, becoming a key figure for Diego Simeone. He would offer a different option for United, but at this stage of the transfer window, it seems unlikely that a serious move would be made at that asking price.
