Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of Jules Kounde could be about to get a lot more complicated, with The Daily Mail now reporting that Manchester United are preparing a move for the Sevilla star.
The North Londoners have been heavily linked with a move for Kounde this transfer window but the speculation has cooled over the last couple of weeks, with some sources suggesting Spurs have hit a roadblock during negotiations with Sevilla.
Tottenham have since seemingly turned their attentions to Atalanta’s Cristian Romero, with the Premier League club thought to be close to snapping up the Argentine.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold claimed on Saturday that Tottenham could sign Kounde this summer in addition to Romero, with the journalist explaining that Sevilla’s interest in Sanchez gives the Lilywhites an advantage.
However, it now looks as though Spurs may have to contend with competition from United for Kounde.
The Mail claim that the Red Devils are set to make a move for the Sevilla star in addition to their pursuit of Raphael Varane.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is said to have identified Kounde as the man to bolster the United backline due to the youngster’s potential and versatility.
Spurs Web Opinion
We were never going to have a straight run at Kounde on the back of the season he has had for Sevilla. I would be surprised if we get involved in a bidding war with United for the 22-year-old, particularly if we spend big to sign Romero.
