According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist, Nicolo Schira, Manchester United have reached an agreement over personal terms with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of a summer transfer.

However, he suggests that the two clubs are yet to agree a fee. Meanwhile, The Sun claim that United have tabled an offer of £31m while Sporting are said to be holding out for at least £54m.

It is also claimed that the Portuguese club hope that a bidding war will now unfold as other Premier League clubs are also interested.

Tottenham and Liverpool are both said to be monitoring the 24-year-old midfielder this summer (Record).

The Portuguese international has had a sensational season, scoring 31 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions this season, and has already said that he would be open to leaving Sporting this summer (Sport Mediaset).

With the uncertainty surrounding Christian Eriksen’s future, Tottenham might need to add another attacking midfielder, and Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso seems to be Mauricio Pochettino’s preferred choice to replace the Dane (The Mirror).

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on recent reports it doesn’t seem like Tottenham are contesting Man Utd for Fernandes.

That could either mean that they prefer other targets like Le Celso or that Eriksen might end up staying. Let’s hope it’s the latter.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. I’m not convinced whether I want Eriksen to stay. He was not especially good for a number of games last season. Maybe it is time for a change? The issue that Spurs had last season was not good or deep enough squad strength and that showed when we had various injuries (which will happen every season, won’t it?).

So, I’m OK with Eriksen leaving (as long as we get good enough replacement (Ndombele would seem to be that player) as I suspect that if he doesn’t then he will not be as motivated next season as he NEEDS to be. If Lo Celso comes in as well, maybe that would be better for Spurs?

  2. Spurs can well do without Eriksen as far as many fan`s are concerned they don`t care if he go`s or stays indeed it seem`s as if he is on the slide . its forward`s we need like Zaha & attacking winger`s & a centre forward and Deli Ali can also go he is a very poor player , young Wick needs to stop playing the ball from side to side or playing the ball backwards he is so predictable .

  3. Man U should grab Fernandes quickly instead of the usual dithering. He scores goals. Who do we have currently that can do that? Uh, I’m thinking but can’t quite find anyone in the team that is a regular sharp-shooter.
