Report: Man Utd ‘reach agreement’ with Spurs-linked midfielder

According to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist, Nicolo Schira, Manchester United have reached an agreement over personal terms with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes ahead of a summer transfer.

However, he suggests that the two clubs are yet to agree a fee. Meanwhile, The Sun claim that United have tabled an offer of £31m while Sporting are said to be holding out for at least £54m.

It is also claimed that the Portuguese club hope that a bidding war will now unfold as other Premier League clubs are also interested.

Tottenham and Liverpool are both said to be monitoring the 24-year-old midfielder this summer (Record).

The Portuguese international has had a sensational season, scoring 31 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions this season, and has already said that he would be open to leaving Sporting this summer (Sport Mediaset).

With the uncertainty surrounding Christian Eriksen’s future, Tottenham might need to add another attacking midfielder, and Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso seems to be Mauricio Pochettino’s preferred choice to replace the Dane (The Mirror).

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on recent reports it doesn’t seem like Tottenham are contesting Man Utd for Fernandes.

That could either mean that they prefer other targets like Le Celso or that Eriksen might end up staying. Let’s hope it’s the latter.
