Report: Man Utd set to launch £68m bid for player Conte and Spurs want

According to a report from Noi Biancocelesti, Manchester United are set to make an opening offer for Lazio superstar Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who is also said to be wanted by Tottenham.

Milinkovic-Savic has enjoyed another exceptional campaign at the Stadio Olimpico with 10 goals and 11 assists in the Serie A so far (Transfermakrt).

La Lazio Siamo Noi reported last month that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are ‘crazy’ about the Lazio star and the North Londoners could launch an offer for the player if they qualify for the Champions League.

Spurs are alleged to be facing competition from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain for the Serbian international (Calciomercato.it).

If Noi Biancocelesti’s latest update is to be believed, it is Man Utd who are set to make the first move for Milinkovic-Savic, with the Red Devils thought to be keen on stealing a march on other suitors.

It is explained that United have identified the 27-year-old as the ideal replacement for Paul Pogba and they are set to launch an offer of £68m.

The report claims that while such a figure ‘would satisfy’ Lazio, the Serie A club also want to listen to other offers in order to get a bidding war going.

Spurs are named as one of the clubs who could make an offer, with Conte said to be a fan of Milinkovic-Savic.

Noi Biancocelesti also add that the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, AC Milan and Juventus are also alert to the Lazio star’s situation.

Spurs Web Opinion

Unless Conte plans on shifting permanently from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 (which is unlikely), I do not see us spending big on Milinkovic-Savic. While I do expect Spurs to be in the market for a number eight this summer, the club will probably go after a low-cost option.
