Report: Man Utd set to return for Spurs star despite summer rejection

According to a report by the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have not yet lost hope of signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The report claims that the Red Devils made an approach for Eriksen in the summer but that he rejected a move to Old Trafford.

However, it is claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men hope to persuade the 27-year-old to change his mind over a move to United in January.

Eriksen’s contract with Tottenham runs out at the end of the current season and he will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a European club from January when the window reopens.

Recent reports have suggested that the Danish international has made it clear to new Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho that he does not intend on extending his stay at the club (The Telegraph).

The report in the Mirror claims that Juventus and Atletico Madrid are also keen on making a move for Eriksen in January but there is no mention of Real Madrid.

Spurs Web Opinion

The club will no doubt do their utmost to find a buyer for Eriksen in January as they wouldn’t want to lose him for nothing next summer. However, I really don’t think Eriksen would want to swap Spurs for Manchester United as that will in no way be a step up. If Real Madrid don’t come in for him, I can see him joining Juventus.
