Report: Man Utd suffer major injury blow ahead of Spurs clash

Tottenham could receive a big boost ahead of their game against Manchester United later this evening, with a report in the Metro suggesting that Anthony Martial is set to miss out on the game with an injury.

The 23-year-old sustained a muscle injury in Man Utd’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday and had to be replaced in the 82nd minute.

The report claims that he is not expected to recover in time for the clash against Tottenham this evening. This news comes as a big boost to Spurs as Martial has been one of Man Utd’s most potent attacker in recent weeks.

He has already notched up five goals and three assists so far this campaign despite spending a considerable amount of time on the sidelines with a hamstring injury (transfrmarket.com)

The report in the Metro claims that in Martial’s absence, Marcus Rashford will spearhead United’s attack in a central role, while Jesse Lingard could deputise on the left flank.

Spurs Web Opinion

Martial is one of United’s most potent threats going forward. Given our defensive frailties recently, it is certainly a huge plus that we won’t have to contend with his pace and trickery this evening. Furthermore, the 23-year-old would have probably been really up for this game as he had a point to prove to Mourinho due to the pair’s tumultuous relationship.
