Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Lyon right-back Malo Gusto, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, has now emerged as a target for Manchester United.
Reports over recent months have indicated that Antonio Conte is expected to prioritise additions at right wing-back in January (90 min) with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries (TuttoSport) and Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro (Football.London) being heavily linked with a move to the North London club.
Another right-back who is alleged to be on Tottenham’s radar is Gusto, who has excelled since establishing himself as a regular in Lyon’s starting eleven last season.
90 min reported back in October that Spurs held an interest in the 19-year-old and had sent scouts to watch him in action this season.
Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that the teenager is also one of several names on Manchester United’s wishlist for the right-back role.
The journalist added that Lyon would be ready to cash in on Gusto next summer and that the French club value the youngster at around €30m-€40m (£25.8m-£34.4m).
Excl. Malo #Gusto: The 19 y/o is very high rated at #MUFC and one of several top transfer targets as a right back. #Frimpong is still in. Ten Hag is pushing for #Dumfries. Spurs Web Opinion
Gusto is more of a conventional right-back who is better suited to playing in a back four than as a wing-back, which is why I do not think he would be a great fit for Tottenham’s system. Both Dumfries and Porro would offer more of a threat in the final third of the pitch.
