Report: Man Utd willing to sell player to raise money as they look at Harry Kane

Manchester Evening News have revealed that Manchester United want to offload Anthony Martial, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham on many occasions over the last few years.

Spurs have seemingly been long-term admirers of Martial, having been credited with an interest in the Frenchman since Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club (The Sun).

Most recently, the forward was linked with a move to Spurs in January of last year, with Fabrizio Romano claiming at the time that the former Monaco man rejected the Lilywhites’ approach in favour of joining Sevilla on loan.

Martial has struggled for game time under Erik Ten Hag since returning from his loan spell in the summer, having been sidelined with multiple injuries at different points so far this campaign.

MEN now claim that United are aiming to cash in on the 27-year-old at the end of the season as they wish to enter the market for another striker, and are said to be looking at Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

The publication explains that although Martial’s contract runs out in 2024, the Red Devils have the option to extend it by a further year, and they believe that the upcoming transfer window is the ideal time to offload him.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given Martial’s form and injury record over the last 18 months, I do not think Conte will be particularly keen on the idea of signing the Frenchman.

However, there is no doubt in my mind that Spurs will look for reinforcements in attack in the summer as I do not think the club view Danjuma as anything more than a temporary stop-gap.
