Report: Manager drops down Spurs’ shortlist after making inquiry

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to cool their interest in Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto de Zerbi as part of their managerial search, according to the Daily Mail.

The north Londoners parted company with Antonio Conte at the end of March in the wake of his explosive post-match press conference at Southampton and was replaced by his assistant Cristian Stellini for the remainder of the campaign.

De Zerbi recently showed his fiery side when he clashed with Stellini before the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this month with a heated exchange and also found himself sent off, along with the interim Spurs head coach in the latter stages of the Premier League clash (Football.London).

The Italian has been under consideration by Tottenham but has seen himself drop down the list as a potential option after the club made initial inquiries over what he would take to bring him to N17.

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot are reported to be two of Daniel Levy’s leading candidates to become Tottenham’s next head coach.

While it is all well and good for Spurs to be looking to bring in a new manager for the summer, they need to make a permanent appoinment as soon as possible.

You have to feel sorry for Ryan Mason who has been lumbered with the role for the remaining matches, after initially being overlooked for Conte’s right-hand man.
