Report: Manager is ‘pressing’ club to sign Spurs player before window closes

Italian publication Radio Sei have claimed that Maurizio Sarri is ‘pressing’ the Lazio hierarchy to snap up Sergio Reguilon before the transfer window shuts.

Lazio’s interest in Reguilon first came to light earlier this week when CalcioMercato reported that the Serie A club could turn to the Tottenham man as they are set to face defeat in their pursuit of Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri.

The report added that the Spain international’s salary could prove a stumping block for the Biancocelesti in completing a deal.

Radio Sei now claim that Reguilon’s agent Kia Joorabchian has come to an agreement with Tottenham regarding the terms of his client’s departure.

The report adds that the basis of the negotiation between Lazio and Spurs has now been set, with Sarri pushing for the left-back to be signed.

However, it is explained that the Serie A club’s president Claudio Lotito is ‘hesitating’ and would have to be persuaded by Sarri to push ahead with a move for Reguilon.

This has also been backed up by a report from Corriere dello Sport (25/08/22 – via Sport Witness), which also states the terms of the deal to be a loan with an option to buy.

At this point, the Serie A appears to be Reguilon’s most likely destination, with Atalanta (Bergamo Corriere) and Juventus (TMW) also credited with an interest in the left-back.

Out of the three clubs, one would assume that Juve would be the 25-year-old’s preferred destination but it remains to be seen if the Bianconeri’s interest in the Spaniard is concrete.
