Report: Manager will not accept Spurs job due to issues with Daniel Levy

According to A Bola (29/03/23 as relayed by SportWitness), Ruben Amorim has ruled himself out of the Tottenham job due to issues with Daniel Levy.

A whole host of managers have been linked with the Spurs hot seat over the last few weeks, with Amorim being named as one of the contenders for the job.

Correio da Manha claimed earlier this month that the Sporting Lisbon head coach is desired by a number of European clubs, but the Lilywhites were leading the race for his signature.

O Jogo (20/03/23 via Sport Witness) then reported that Amorim himself was keen on the idea of managing in the Premier League.

According to The Guardian, the 38-year-old has a £17.7m release clause in his current contract, which drops to £13.2m at the end of the current season.

However, if A Bola’s latest update is to be believed, the Portuguese coach has no interest in taking over the Spurs job.

The report alleges that Amorim has ruled himself out of the contention despite Tottenham’s interest due to the ‘tempestuous temper’ of Levy.

Spurs Web Opinion

Some top coaches might have reservations over working with Daniel Levy, given the Spurs chairman’s reputation but Amorim is certainly in no position to reject the Spurs job out of hand.

One would expect the 38-year-old to speak to the Tottenham hierarchy if they show interest but I do not think the Portuguese coach would be at the top of the North London club’s wishlist.
