Report: Manager would prefer to take Premier League job in near future – Spurs linked

Tottenham’s poor showings in recent weeks have led many people to question if Mauricio Pochettino has taken the club as far as he can. The Spurs manager is now arguably under more pressure than he has ever been since taking over at Tottenham.

While Pochettino remains adamant that he is not worried about being sacked (Daily Mail), the likes of Jose Mourinho (AS) and Massimiliano Allegri (Calcio Mercato) have both been linked with the Spurs job.

A report in Tuttosport ( as translated by Sport Witness) now reports that the former Juventus coach is edging towards a move to the Premier League with Manchester United and Tottenham being suggested as the two possible destinations for the Italian.

The report claims that Allegri is interested in both jobs and is keen to take over soon as he wants to salvage what’s left of the season. It is further suggested that the 52-year-old has intensified his English lessons recently as he aims to secure a job in England soon.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not believe that Mauricio Pochettino is under the threat of being sacked just yet and for that reason I believe Allegri is more likely to take over at Manchester United. However, if Tottenham are to get rid of Pochettino, then I believe Allegri will be a much better fit for the club than Mourinho would be.
