Report: Managerial candidate ‘rises one place’ on Tottenham’s wishlist

Soccer News have revealed that Arne Slot has risen one place on Tottenham’s wishlist after Chelsea decided to look elsewhere.

Slot has done wonders since taking over at Feyenoord, with the club finishing runners-up in the Europa Conference League last season and currently on course to win the Eredivisie title this time round.

Soccer News state that a number of Premier League clubs have looked at the Dutchman, including Leeds United, who failed with a move a few months ago.

The publication adds that Slot was on the list of Tottenham and Chelsea this summer, with both London giants on the lookout for a new head coach.

However, with Chelsea dropping out of the race since they are close to hiring Mauricio Pochettino, it is asserted that the 44-year-old has now ‘risen one place’ in Daniel Levy’s wishlist.

The report states that Levy still prefers other coaches over the Feyenoord boss but he is still seen by the Spurs chairman as an ‘interesting candidate’.

Soccer News add that the main issue for Slot is his lack of experience in a major competition, which is why he is ‘one step behind’ some other options.

As things stand, it appears as if Slot is likely to be the man Spurs turn their attention to if a move for Julian Nagelsmann falls through.

While the Dutchman has shown plenty of promise at Feyenoord, there is no guarantee that he would be able to cope with the pressure of an elite club, which is why a move for the 44-year-old would be a gamble.
